Day By Day Itinerary

Day 1: USA / Beijing

Fly to Beijing, the capital of China.

Day 2: Arrive Beijing

Our tour guide will greet you at the airport and escort you to a five star hotel.

Day 3: Beijing / Xining

Fly to Xining, the capital of Qinghai province. Visit Kumbum Monastery, the birthplace of Gelugpa (Yellow Hat) sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Visit the local minority, Tujia, in the afternoon. Enjoy the dancing, singing and other cultural activities.

Day 4: Xining / Lhasa

Visit Qinghai Lake, historically known as Koko Nor, is a saline lake situated in the province of Qinghai, and is the largest lake in China. Board the train to Lhasa after dinner.

Day 5: On the train

Enjoy the marvelous views. The train line includes the Tanggula Pass, 16,640 feet above sea level, the world's highest rail track. The Fenghuoshan tunnel is the highest rail tunnel in the world, known as the nearest door to the heaven. Arrive Lhasa at night. Check in the best hotel.

Day 6: Lhasa

Visit the Potala Palace, built in the 17th century. It took 7,000 workers and 1,500 artists and craftsmen more than 50 years to build the adjoining White and Red Palaces. It is the largest lamasery in the world. Then visit the 1,300-year-old Jokhang Temple , where you are likely to see Buddhist pilgrims making clockwise circuits on their hands and knees in reverence to one of Tibet 's most sacred sites. Then have a Walking along Barkhor Bazaar, experience the Tibetan culture and buy colorful ethnic handicrafts.

Day 7: Lhasa

Visit Drepung Monastery, is one of the "great three" Gelukpa university monasteries of Tibet. Then visit Norbulingka, which is a palace and surrounding park, served asthe traditional summer residence of the successive Dalai Lamas.Then visit Sera Monastery, features the largest Tsokchen (main assembly hall) in town.

Day 8: Lhasa / Tsetang

Visit Yumbulagang Palace, an ancient palace, was the first palace for the first Tibetan king Niechi in Tibet. Then visit Tradruk Temple, the earliest great geomantic temple after the Jokhang in the Yarlung Valley.

Day 9: Tsetang / Chengdu

Visit the Samye Monastery or Samye Gompa, the first Buddhist monastery built in Tibet.
